I'm starting a new feature where you can post your Bipolar stories or articles here on Raw Writing for the Real World of Bipolar.
A personal Bipolar story might include the following: How has Bipolar Disorder affected your life or the lives of ones you love? Where are you now? Do you believe in medication for your illness or are you med free? What do you think about the stigma of your illness? Has it affected how you live?

If you're interested in submitting an informational article, please submit the idea before you begin writing.

I think you will be quite interested in this. I was diagnosed with bipolar 13 years ago and have been on a myriad of meds. My doctor is a specialist on bipolar for 30 years. He told me that bipolar can be cured and is documented in many Medical Journals. The longer one goes without an episode, it is more likely that one will ever have one again. Under his direction and since I have not had an episode in two years, he is weaning me off my meds. I was on four, and now I am down to two. Soon, I'll be off a third, and as I said, under his direction. I've quit meds before when I felt like it and wen totally off the wall manic. Won't do it, mania leads to depression; what goes up must come down. I certainly needed therapy, and that is another story. So, we bipolars can get over it! It's hard work, but it is worth it!

    Rita,

I think that there are warring theories out there on whether or not Bipolar can be cured. Unfortunately, I do not put much stock in it being cured. You're one of the lucky ones who hasn't had an episode in two years. I've had several episodes this year. Remission isn't in the cards for me.
